The strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities has entered day 2. So also has the ongoing examination at the Obafemi Awolowo University.
On Tuesday, while the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) issued a 21-day ultimatum to federal authorities to resolve its dispute with the lecturers, some members of NANS wrote their exams in Ile-Ife.
The management of OAU claims the school is far behind on the academic calendar and cannot afford to postpone the exams which are expected to end on the 2nd of September.
Efforts to speak with the two factional chairmen of ASUU OAU chapter Dr. Niyi Sunmonu and Dr. Caleb Aborishade proved abortive,as they were not available to respond.
The students Union Secretary-General Boluwajaye Ajayi, appealed to the Federal Government to see to the demands of ASUU, which include payment of their earned allowances.
